Transcript: "Regulation of the mind" refers to the regulation
of mental activities: the exercise of mental tranquilization and mind
concentration. The key is to exert the will, concentrate the mind,
replace all stay thoughts with a single thought and gradually induce
the mind into a quiescent state. The effect of this regulation is
mainly determined by the degree of tranquilization. The methods
commonly practiced are the mind concentration, breath-following,
counting, listening, silent reading, and mental looking methods. For
example, when practicing relaxation Qigong, one may think about the
most pleasurable experience one has ever had. Focus on this for 1 or 2
minutes, and then begin to concentrate the mind on regulating the
breath. Do not be influenced by the external environment. In short, by
regulating the body, regulating the breath, and regulating the mind,
Qigong exercise accomplishes its health promoting functions.
