10.  Acupuncture for Bell's Palsy

Video Transcript: Bells palsy is often seen as a facial nerve injury or inflammation. It is advised to apply acupuncture in the disease's early stage to obtain optimal therapeutic effects. Also it does have certain effects for it's sequeale. Because this disease mostly affects the patient's facial appearance, it is of the utmost urgency to be cured as soon as possible. Studies have shown the results of the acupuncture treatment may be predetermined based on the severity of the disease and whether it could receive timely effective treatment. There is an obvious relationship between the effect and the timing of acupuncture. If acupuncture is applied in the first 7 to 10 days then it is easier to achieve a complete recovery, in addition to acupuncture, local applications of heat and infrared lights are often helpful to lessen the damage and shorten the disease's course. In some patients occurrence of this disease may be related to viral infections, thus some Chinese herbs with antivirus functions maybe taken simultaneously with acupuncture treatment.
